Carl Joseph Moormann, 68, of De Soto died May 23, 2026, at Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur. Mr. Moormann was a 1975 De Soto High School graduate and went on to finish two years at Jefferson College. He was a welder for many years, working at Rocket Concrete Mixer Co. and Kupfler Bros. Iron Works. He was a lifelong member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, where he attended grade school. Born Nov. 6, 1957, in Festus, he was the son of the late Julius and Theresa (Dickinson) Moormann.
He is survived by three grandchildren: Xavier Moormann, Avonlee Moormann and Hadessa Moormann; three sisters: Mary Fisher of De Soto, Theresa Star of Festus and Louise Brotherton of Festus; a sister-in-law: Janice Moormann; a brother-in-law: Richard Fisher; and 15 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two children: Jennifer Moormann and Andrew Moormann; two brothers: Bernard Moormann and Herman Moormann and two brothers-in-law: Larry Brotherton and Bill Star.
Visitation is scheduled from 9-10:45 a.m. Thursday, May 28, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 504 S. Third St., in De Soto, officiated by Father Rodger Fleming. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
