C. Thomas “Tom” Carnes, 84, of Valles Mines died Sept. 26, 2024. Mr. Carnes worked as a road construction supervisor for Fred Weber where he was known as “Mr. Precise” and supervised multiple large road projects. He was a member of Laborers Union Local 660. He enjoyed tinkering with everything and singing karaoke. Born Oct. 6, 1939, in Litchfield, Ky., he was the son of the late Veda R. (Watson) and Sherman S. Carnes.
He is survived by his wife: Carolyn A. (House) Carnes of Valles Mines; his dog: Mac; a daughter: Amy R. (Myreon Wimby) Jones of Lula, Ga; five bonus-kids: Robert W. (Dawn) Maust of Columbus, Ohio, Sheila A. (Gwyn) Maust of McLoud, Okla., Beau (Tasha) Baker of Saint Peters, Brandy (Andy) Hutching of Saint Peters and Ginger (Brian) McClenahan of Saint Peters; a sister: Linda M. (the late Mike) Rogers of Hockley, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a bonus-kid: Andy Baker; a sister: Joyce (Thomas) Coats; and a niece: Sandy Coats.
Visitation is scheduled from noon until services at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at Mahn Funeral Home, 900 N. Main, in De Soto, officiated by Sam Weber. Memorials may be made to the Dementia Society of America, PO Box 600 Doylestown, PA 18901. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
