McArthy, Brooks

Brooks A. McArthy, 64, of Imperial died Feb. 12, 2024, at his home. Mr. McArthy spent his childhood in South St. Louis County and graduated from Lindbergh High School in 1978. After participating in competitive swimming and water polo in high school, he moved on to become a lifeguard at Suson Pool. It was there he met his wife, Shari, and later started a family. While tending to his family’s needs, he assisted his father in building apartments and trailer courts around the area and, eventually, Deer Creek Golf Course. With the skills he learned working with his father, he was able to work for himself for much of his life. Once “retired,” he spent his later years squeezing in rounds of golf. He was a man of strong faith and loved spending time with his wife and children. Born July 22, 1959, in St. Louis, he was the son of Janis (Laiben) and Brooks C. McArthy.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife: Shari L. (Henry) McArthy; three daughters: Bettina (Kenny Woolsey), Amanda (Matthew Foust) and Jessica (Brett Nickless); two sons: Brooks J. (Amy) McArthy and Benjamin (Kayla) McArthy; 18 grandchildren: Blane, Brett, Brayden, Katelynn and Brock Woolsey, Austin, Judy, Farrah, John (Maverick), Peter and Annalee Foust, Hayzel and Jayden McArthy, August, Forest and Halston McArthy, Eli and Ella Nickless; six siblings: Michelle (Craig) Forthaus, Nan McArthy, Darren McArthy, Christy McArthy, Collette Capellupo and Kelly (Jay) Lavick.

Funeral services were held Feb. 17 at First Baptist Church of Arnold. Burial was in Shepherd Hills Cemetery in Barnhart. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Arnold. Arrangements were under the direction of Kutis South County Chapel in St. Louis.
