Brenda Lea Horton, 74, of Cadet died July 12, 2024, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Horton was a retired secretary for the Kingston K-14 School District. She was a member of the De Soto Christian Church. Born May 1, 1950, in De Soto, she was the daughter of the late Juanita (Huskey) and Homer Thebeau.
She is survived by her husband: James M. “Mike” Horton; three children: Michelle (Jeff) Rinehart of Hillsboro, Hallie Horton of Festus and Andy (Tara) Horton of De Soto; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and four siblings: Dale Thebeau of De Soto, Gary (Laura) Thebeau of De Soto, Dawn (Jon “Rusty”) Hedger of Joplin and Tim (Brenda) Thebeau of Linn Creek.
She was preceded in death by a brother: Steven Thebeau; and a sister-in-law: Marilyn Thebeau.
A memorial gathering is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Friday, July 19, at the Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, at the De Soto Christian Church, 4151 Fountain City Road, officiated by Matt Sutman and Ron Follmer. Memorials may be made to the De Soto Christian Church or to the Kingston K-14 School District, 1004 Dimond Road, Cadet, 63630. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
