Brenda Kay Carter, 81, of Olympian Village died Aug. 29, 2026, at Evelyn’s Hospice House, Creve Coeur. Mrs. Carter was a homemaker who loved spending time with her family. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Born July 22, 1945, in Stoddard County, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Thelma (Williams) Young.
She is survived by her husband: Jackie L. “Jack” Carter of Olympian Village, whom she married on July 10, 1962, in Old Mission, Mich.; three children: Scott (Cheryl) Carter of De Soto, Pamela (Bob Chambers) Saputo of Ladue and Eric (Kelly) Carter of Campbell Hill, Ill.; six grandchildren: Brandon (Natalie) Carter, Chelsea (Nathan White) Carter, Cody (Vivian) Waymire, Logan Saputo, Lucas (Hannah) Carter and Makayla Carter; six great-grandchildren: Rhett, Lyla, Henry, Lincoln, Josie and Jackson and one more on the way; and a brother: Donald (Dorothy) Young of Hillsboro.
She was preceded in death by a brother: Dennis Young.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until a funeral service at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto, officiated by Brother Rich Grayson. Interment will be in Peaceful Ridge Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
