Basler, Bradford

Bradford Louis Basler, 76, of Festus died Sept. 30, 2026, at Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur. Mr. Basler was an Edward Jones financial advisor and an owner/operator of Crystal Coin and Jeweler. He was a member of Knights of Columbus 1230, Elks 1721, Masonic Lodge and Moolah Shrine Temple, Festus-Crystal City Rotary Club and had served as a board member for the YMCA in Festus. He was a member of a card club for more than 45 years where he made lifelong friends. He loved traveling, visiting more than 42 countries, every U.S. state and many state parks. He had a lifelong passion for coin collecting that began as a young boy after he earned his first rare coin on his paper route. He was known as an incredible storyteller and speaker, sharing stories and jokes with countless people in his community and spreading his knowledge and passion. Born Oct. 6, 1949, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Delores Jane (Schneider) and Louis Felix Basler.

He is survived by his wife: Phyllis (Perryman) Basler; a son: Joshua Phillip (Katey Mae) Basler of Festus; a daughter: Sarah (Andrew) Shehata of Eureka; two granddaughters: Kimberly J. Basler and Juliah K. Basler; two great-grandchildren: Kaisen and Kaizer Basler; two sisters: Pamela (Tom) LaPlant of Festus and Janice (Brad) Shain of Olathe, Kan.; and two brothers: Chad J. (Joni) Basler of Olathe and Kevin (Sandy) Basler of Festus.

He was preceded in death by a son: Jonathan Bradford Basler, his eldest child.

Visitation is scheduled from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. A funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5, at Our Lady Church, 1550 St. Mary’s Lane, in Festus, officiated by Father Steve Lian. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Church Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the Knights of Columbus 1230 or Elks 1721. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
