Bonnie Jill (Matthews) Christian, 81, of Festus died April 7, 2026, from complications with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Mrs. Christian was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Festus, and throughout the years had been active in the American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries, the Girls State program, was a hospice volunteer and an election judge. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Born Oct. 4, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Matthews and Malda (Berry) Matthews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years: David S. Christian.
She is survived by two daughters: Paula (Nevin) Koranda and Nova (Kimberly Giannola) Politte; two stepdaughters: Amy (Robert) McCormick and Connie Christian; four grandsons: Anthony (Sydney) Koranda, Benjamin (Dana) Koranda, Joseph Koranda and Henry Koranda; two great-granddaughters: Casey Jane Koranda and Rosemary Rainn Koranda; a sister: Rhea (Matthews) Miller; a brother-in-law: Paul Miller; a niece: Michelle Czoseck; two great-nieces: Grace Czoseck and Faith Czoseck; and many other family members, friends and neighbors.
Visitation is scheduled from 4 p.m. until services at 6 p.m. Monday, April 13, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Ave., in Festus, officiated by Nevin Koranda. Interment is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to Faith Baptist Church Children's Ministries. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel.
