Robert G. “Bob” Kister, 68, of Festus died Aug. 5, 2023. Mr. Kister was an attorney. He went to grade school in Normandy and Bel-Nor and graduated from St. Louis University. He also graduated from Grinnell College and Washington University Law School. He played football in high school and college.
He was a community volunteer, supporting the annual Kiwanis Easter Egg Hunt and the Night of Superstars. Each year he and friends took part in a Blood, Sweat and Gears motorcycle extravaganza. He also introduced his sons to dirt bike riding and shared his love of the outdoors with his grandchildren. He was born on May 29, 1955, in St. Charles.
He is survived by two sons: Michael and Matthew; a daughter-in-law: Allie; three grandchildren: Kyleigh, Madalynn and Maverick; and three sisters: Maura Hemann, Nan Van Mechelen and Mary Kaiser.
A celebration of life will be held from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10 at Frederick’s Banquet and Conference Center, 201 E. Main St., in Festus. Those who wish to leave a memorial may contact Mahn Funeral Home in Festus about buying a tree to be planted in his memory. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
