Harrison, Betty

Betty Lee Harrison, 90, of De Soto died July 9, 2026, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Harrison was a retired cook for the Northwest School District. After retirement, she dedicated herself to her family and Church. She was a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in De Soto since 1975. For many years, she was the kitchen coordinator for the church. She also taught Sunday School and assisted with Vacation Bible Schools. In her later years and until her death, she served the church by overseeing the Prayer Chain calls and being the Sunday School secretary. Born Nov. 3, 1935, in Grubville, she was the daughter of the late Clyde K. and Mary J. (Johnson) Miller.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Robert “Bob” Harrison, whom she married on June 16, 1956, at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in De Soto.

She is survived by a child: Terry (Bill) Smith of Fletcher; three grandchildren: Randy Lynn (Bel) Harrison of Valley Park, Catherine Lee (Adam) Decker of Dittmer and William Robert (Bailey) Smith of Potosi; five great-grandchildren: Ryann L. Decker, William R. Smith, Benjamin J. Decker, Andrew Harrison and Edward A. Decker; a sister: Dolores (Herbert) Copeland of Herculaneum; a brother: Marshall (Dina) Miller of De Soto; two sisters-in-law: Norma Miller and Faye Miller; and several nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by a daughter: Toni Harrison; and nine siblings: Clyde E. (Delores) Miller, Edwin (Dorothy) Miller, Elbert Miller, Velva Jean (Herman) Dick, Donald Miller, Mary Lou Couch, Margaret (Joe) Couch, Janet (Kenneth) Thomas and Mildred Norton.

Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, July 16, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Lin Young. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, 1215 Boyd St., De Soto, 63020. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
