Stamm, Betty Jane

Betty Jane Stamm, 97, of Arnold died Feb. 2, 2024. In her early years, Mrs. Stamm attended Blow Elementary where she met many friends. She continued those relationships with frequent outings, trips and lunches. As an only child, her cousins were a great source of companionship to her growing up. She remained close to her cousins, Dee and Gloria, throughout their later years, still talking on the phone to catch up. She worked her first job at the St. Louis County Library. After marrying her husband, Al, and moving to Arnold, she began her career as an administrative secretary at the Fox C-6 School District. It was there that she retired after many years. Before Al’s death in 2002, they were happily married for more than 50 years. She had a supportive family which included Al’s parents, his brother and wife and her mother, Flora. She enjoyed traveling and sightseeing with her husband, especially their yearly trip to Florida, a trip to Hawaii and their cruise to Alaska. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed counted cross-stitching, crocheting, reading, birdwatching and making Christmas cookies. She loved a good NCIS, Blue Bloods or Chicago marathon on television. She was known for being “tiny but mighty.” Born Dec.18, 1926, in St. Louis, she was the daughter to the late Harry Fredrick and Flora Cecil (Burgess) Erb.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Albert George Jr.

She is survived by her daughter: Christine (Michael) Marler; a granddaughter: Becky (Josh) Pemberton; a grandson:  Joe (Jamie) Marler; four great-granddaughters: Evie Jane, Lola Jean, Penelope Marie and Ava Christine; a nephew: Chuck (Mary) Stamm; a niece: Debbie (Henry) Jones; a great-niece: Carrie (Jason) Stewart; and many other family members and friends.
