Bernard Franklin “Bernie” Ketcherside, 85, of De Soto died Nov. 24, 2025, at his home. Mr. Ketcherside served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1961. After his honorable discharge, he began a long career as a technician with AT&T. Following his retirement, he continued to stay active, working as a porter for Pettus Automotive. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in De Soto. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking and spending time outdoors. He loved taking drives through the countryside and, most of all, spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters and great-grandchildren. Born Sept. 30, 1940, in Bonne Terre, he was the son of the late Buford and Pearl (Thebeau) Ketcherside.
He is survived by his wife of more than 61 years: Martha (Lewis) Ketcherside of De Soto; a son: Jeff (Vicky) Ketcherside of Cadet; five granddaughters: Megan Ketcherside, Melissa (Eric) Lawrence, Madeline (J.C.) Rotter, Mackenzie Ketcherside and Macy (Tommy) Hahn; four great-grandchildren: Everhett, Mallory, Easton and Tatum; and numerous other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son: Steven W. Ketcherside; two brothers: Leonard and Homer Ketcherside; and a sister: Glenda Boardman.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, at Mahn Funeral Home, De Soto Chapel, 900 N. Main St. A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at the funeral home, officiated by Deacon Ed Boyer. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in De Soto.
