Bernadette Loretta (Boehm) Matz, 91, of Eureka died July 9, 2025. She was honored to be the only daughter in her family. She shared her birthplace with her husband and the couple raised their family in Joliet and Troy, Ill. They enjoyed their retirement for 19 years in Las Vegas, Nev., before returning to Illinois and ultimately moving to Eureka. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, as well as watching Cardinals baseball in person or on TV. Her favorite pastimes were singing, playing piano, crocheting, baking, making candy, and visiting the casino. Born June 4, 1934, in Pittsburgh, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Emma M. (Snyder) and Frank J. Boehm.
She was preceded in death by her husband: George J. Matz.
She is survived by four children: Maureen (Wally) Wuelling, Patty (Jim) Radcliffe, George (Beth) Matz and Jim (Stacey) Matz; 10 grandchildren: Leah (Brandon), Emma, Alyssa, Matthew, Caroline, Logan (Maddie), Jacob, Annie, Anna-Claire and Josh; two step-grandchildren: Noah and Payton; a great-grandson: Logan Jr.; a twin brother: Edwin "Ebby" Boehm; and other numerous family members and friends.
She also was preceded in death by seven brothers: Frank, George, Bernard, Joseph, Raymond, Richard and Donald "Bucky.”
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 17, at Most Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 320 E. Fourth St., in Eureka. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to any local casino via the Double Double Bonus Poker Machine. Arrangements are under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home in Ballwin.
