Aydin Paul Silhavy, 19, of Hillsboro died Feb. 14, 2026. Aydin was a Hillsboro High School graduate and a fifth-generation member of Sprinkler Fitters Local Union 268. An avid lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and motorsports. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. An inspiration to others, he was known to live life to the fullest. Born July 18, 2006, he was the son of Matthew and Erin (Garner) Silhavy.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two siblings: Drake Thomas Silhavy and Seray Elise Silhavy; grandparents: Lynn and Urban McLafferty, Robert and Anna Garner and Diane Silhavy; aunts and uncles: Kimberly (Mark) Reed, Stephanie (Max Connolly) Silhavy, Douglas (Valarie) Silhavy, Patrick (Rita) McLafferty, Bree Silhavy, Rikki (Josh) Leddy and Grant (Mandy) Garner; cousins: Jacob (Shelby Keiser) Reed, Andrew (Madeline) Reed, Claire (DeVaughn) Simmons, Knora Connolly, Nando Connolly, Owen Connolly, Kalynn (Lucas Gettinger) Silhavy, Addison (Gavin Walls) Silhavy, Barrett Silhavy, Merynn Silhavy, Christopher McLafferty, Jack McLafferty, Collin Garner, Jordan Garner and Leo Garner; second cousins: Theodore Reed, Josephine Reed and Amelia Simmons; his companion and best friend: Kayla Yaeger; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a grandparent: Rickey Silhavy; and a cousin: Christopher McLafferty.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. with a visitation following until 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at Kutis Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois Road, in Affton. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital – St. Louis (POPS Unit). Arrangements are under the direction of Kutis Affton Chapel.
