Buford Dale Hunter, 83, of De Soto died May 13, 2023, in De Soto. Mr. Hunter worked as a mockup worker for Boeing. He was a member of Bass Masters and many other fishing and camping clubs. He enjoyed fishing, cars, music, woodworking, jewelry making, loving on his dogs and spending time with family and friends. Born Dec. 27, 1939, in Poplar Bluff, he was the son of the late Rose Zolmann and Jack Hunter.
He is survived by his wife: Linda (Beel) Hunter of De Soto; a son: Michael (Cheryl) Hunter of Winfield; two daughters: Melissa (Tony) Tripp of Hilham, Tenn., and Donna (Larry) Waldon of St. Ann; two stepdaughters: Tawnya (Daniel) Shackelford of De Soto and Kim (Mike Sheridan) Christopher of De Soto; two sisters: Paulette Hester and Sharon (Jim) Doyle, both of Poplar Bluff; six grandsons: Jake Christopher of De Soto, Dylan Shackleford of Arnold, Shawn Waldon of St. Ann, Jason (Christy) Hunter of Clarksville, Tenn., Justin (Brea) Hunter of Moscow Mills and Nick Evans of Hillsboro; four granddaughters: Tara (Will Dolde) Christopher of De Soto, Danielle Shackelford of Festus and Mackenzie Tripp and Ella Rose Tripp of Hilham, Tenn.; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother: Jerry Chilton.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, May 18, at Mahn Funeral Home, 900 N Main St., in De Soto. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 19, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Rick Pirtle.
