Ann F. Gibbons, 91, of Florissant died April, 23, 2023 at Sunrise Nursing Center in Chesterfield. Mrs. Gibbons graduated from St. Agnes Academy in College Point, N.Y., and worked for New York Bell and Southern Bell Telephone Co.. After moving to Florissant, she became heavily involved in Girl Scouts for more than 50 years. She was a member of the PTA and served 36 years on the Hazelwood School District Board of Education. Born Jan. 31, 1932, in Manhattan, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Ann Fitzgerald. She was preceded in death by her husband: Thomas Patrick “Tom” Gibbons Jr.
She is survived by five children: Ann (Danny) Schmerber, Maureen (Andrew) Scheidt, Bettye (Tom) Woolsey, Thomas P. (Doris) Gibbons III and Katie Peterson; 11 grandchildren: Chelsea (Taylor) Parthemer, Madeline Scheidt, Thomas P. (fiancée Lucy Edele) Gibbons IV, Brett (Ericah) Peterson, Matthew Gibbons, Steven Gibbons, Nicholas Peterson, Adam Gibbons, Miranda Peterson, McKenzie Peterson and Edward Gibbons; three great-grandchildren: Peter Parthemer and Kolt and Kai Peterson; several siblings; Many foreign exchange students, some of whom considered family: Rodrigo Ospina, Pia Nyman-Ghezelbash, Susie Kimby, Vivian Anditsch and Andreas Kaj; and many nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by two sons-in-law: Danny Schmerber and Tom Woolsey.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, at Hutchens Mortuary, 675 Graham Road, in Florissant. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, at St. Rose Philippine Duchesne Catholic Church in north St. Louis County. Burial will follow at 12:45 p.m. in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the Hazelwood PTA Scholarship Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of Hutchens Mortuary.
