Nikolas James “Nik” Tsapelas, 38, Dittmer

Nikolas James “Nik” Tsapelas, 38, of Dittmer died Jan. 9, 2021. Mr. Tsapelas served four years in the Marine Corps as a mobile multi-channel equipment and field operator, with time spent in Iraq. He enjoyed fishing, nature trails, computer gaming and Star Trek. He graduated from ITT with honors and an associate degree in multimedia and a bachelor’s degree in computer science. He attended New Hope Fellowship Church and Ignite Church. He was the son of Gwendolyn J. and Gerald V. Parrish of Hillsboro.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a daughter: Lily Tsapelas; a brother: Eric (Kathy) Parrish; a nephew: Logan Parrish; other family members; and his dog: Brody.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until the funeral services at 7 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 21) at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins, in Festus. Burial will be in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the Multiple System Atrophy Coalition, 7918 Jones Branch Drive, Suite 300, McLean, Va.; the PTSD Foundation of America; Camp Hope, 9724 Derrington Road, Houston, Texas; or the Jefferson County Rescue Mission, 8943 Commercial Blvd., Pevely. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
