Mary Athlyn Fuemmeler, 86, Salisbury

Mary Athlyn Fuemmeler, 86, of Salisbury died June 15, 2020, at the Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center in Sedalia. Mrs. Fuemmeler was a 1951 graduate of Glasgow High School. She worked for the Kansas City Power and Light Co. and helped till ground and raise cattle on her family’s farm. After her youngest child started schools, she worked as a teacher’s aide at the Salisbury Elementary School. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salisbury and an accomplished seamstress. She also enjoyed gardening; canning; playing piano or guitar; and most of all, spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Born Oct. 15, 1933, in Glasgow, she was the daughter of Clarence and Stella (Stockman) Brand.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Eugene John Fuemmeler, whom she married in April 1955 at St. Mary’s Church in Glasgow.

She is survived by three sons: Russ (Marg) Fuemmeler of Salisbury, John (Cathy) Fuemmeler of Salisbury and Danny (KaLyn) Fuemmeler of Boonville; five daughters: Connie Delph of Sedalia, Jeannie Fuemmeler of Armstrong, Cathy (Greg) Swanson of Eureka, Leanne (Troy) of Huntsville and Jody (Tracy) Sanders of Glasgow; a brother: Dale Brand of Moberly; 24 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and

nephews.

She also was preceded in death by a sister: Margie Nolke; and a grandson:

Wes Stockhorst.

Visitation was today (June 18) at Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday (June 19) at the St. Joseph Catholic Church., 301 W. Williams St., in Salisbury. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph School Foundation or Missouri Right to Life. Arrangements are under the direction of Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury.
