Mary Alice (Wingard) Gerlach, 86, of Hillsboro died June 27, 2025, in Festus. Mrs. Gerlach was a professional seamstress for Custom Drapery in Ballwin. In her free time, she was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed growing tomatoes and hydrangeas, quilting, sewing, knitting, mowing her grass and taking care of the church grounds with her husband. She also enjoyed baking, serving food at the church and spending time with her family. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hillsboro. Born March 20, 1939, in Peru, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Jake Wingard and Lizzie (Miller) Wingard.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Wendell Edward Gerlach.
She is survived by a son: Timothy (Renee) Gerlach of Hillsboro; a daughter: Karen (Paul) Pullman of Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister: Ruthie (Ellie) Eash of Middlebury, Ind.; five grandchildren: Edward, Cameron (Terra), Alexandria, Timmy and Abigail; three great-grandchildren: Angel, Aurora and Arwyn; and numerous other family members and friends.
She also was preceded in death by a son: Steven Gerlach; three brothers: Clarence Wingard, Vernon Wingard and Melvin Wingard; and a sister: Katie Townsend.
Visitation is scheduled from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, July 6, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Ave., in Festus. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, July 7, at Zion Lutheran Church, 9700 Zion Lutheran Church Road, in Hillsboro, 63050. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church in Hillsboro. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel.
