Marie Joyce Rhodes, 74, of Cedar Hill died Aug. 1, 2020. Mrs. Rhodes grew up in the South City area of St. Louis and attended Cleveland High School, and her first job was working in her father’s drug store. During a visit to Beaufort, S.C., she met the love of her life, the late Richard Eugene Rhodes, and they moved to Cedar Hill in 1973. Mrs. Rhodes owned and operated Cimo’s Pizza in Cedar Hill for many years, and served as treasurer for Public Water Supply District 8 for more than 30 years. She loved gardening, cooking, thrift-shopping and playing cards, dominoes and bingo. She was a news junkie, an animal lover and an avid birdwatcher. She was generous, thoughtful, loved to tell stories and to laugh. Born Dec. 27, 1945, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Charlotte Belko.
She is survived by two children: Cynthia (Phillip) Miller and Richard E. Rhodes Jr.; three granddaughters: Courtney Rhodes, Rachael Miller and Olivia Miller; a sister-in-law: Ronnie Belko; and the loving circle of friends and family that includes Sylvia and Kathy Mester, Lois Vukosich, Vicky Crist, Annette Bonackar, Kathy Voyles and Myra Boenker.
She was preceded in death by a sister: Nina Loethen; and a brother: Alexander “Butch” Belko.
