Lynn S. Cunningham, 78, Hillsboro

Lynn S. Cunningham, 78, of Hillsboro died Sept. 6, 2021, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Mr. Cunningham served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era and remained in the Reserves for 20 years, retiring from the reserves as a lieutenant colonel. He was a math professor at Jefferson College, retiring in 2002. He was a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent and a trustee for the Church of the Nazarene for many years. He also was a member of the Methodist church and was involved in the Walk to Emmaus as a teacher and sponsor. He also was involved with Gideon’s International. Born May 3, 1943, in Washington D. C., he was the son of the late Leslie and Joanna J. (Dale) Cunningham.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years: Jan (Stoner) Cunningham of Hillsboro; three children: Teresa Wheeler of Ozark, Catherine Graves of Carterville, Ill., and Rebecca Cunningham of Arnold; three sons-in-law: Patrick Wheeler, Dale Grant and Jeremy Graves; three siblings: Glenn (Linda) Cunningham of Willard, James Cunningham of Eagle Rock and Lewis (Glenda) Cunningham of Madison, Ala.; and eight grandchildren: Nicole, Alex, Nathan and Gabe Wheeler, Marielle and Josiah Grant, and Charlotte and Jonathan Graves.

He was preceded in death by a daughter: Elizabeth Grant.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the funeral service at 3 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 11) at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto, officiated by Pastor Kevin Muttschall and Pastor Harold Long. Burial will be in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Walk to Emmaus/Emmaus Ministries of the Upper Room, 1908 Grand Ave., Nashville, TN, 37203. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
