LeRoy Stuart Williams Jr., 91, of Herculaneum, died April 4, 2017, at Crystal Oaks Assisted Living in Crystal City. He was a retired equipment operator at Dow Chemical in Pevely, a United States Navy veteran of World War II, a former Ward 3 Herculaneum City Councilman, and a member of VFW Post 3777 in Festus. Born Aug. 8, 1925, in Herculaneum, he was the son of the late Eloise Anna (Easter) and LeRoy S. Williams Sr. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Dixie Lee (Allen) Williams.
He is survived by his wife: Marian (Partney) Scaggs-Williams; two daughters: Marsha (the late Wayne) Helms of Herculaneum and Linda (Don) Alcott of Ft. Worth, Texas; one sister: Bernice (the late Joe) Marcna of Detroit, Mich.; two brothers: Avard (Virginia) Williams of Festus, and Harold (Debbie) Williams of Piedmont; seven grandchildren: David (Marnie) Helms, Brian (Katie) Helms, Tracy (Chip) Svejkosky, Cynthia (Matt) Aldridge, Steven (Allison) Alcott,
Matt (fiancée Mallory) Stout and Mindy Stout; and six great-grandchildren: Brock Helms, Katie Helms, Mason Helms, Harlow Svejkosky, Connor Alcott and Cooper Alcott.
He was also preceded in death by one son: John (Helen survives of Herculaneum); three sisters: Ruth (the late Thomas) Huddleston, Norma (the late Bill) Evans and Wilma Williams; and one brother: Donald (Linda survives of Robertsville) Williams.
Services were this morning (April 7) at Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home in Pevely, officiated by the Rev. Cody Alley, chaplain of Mercy Hospice. Burial was at Herculaneum City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Arrangements were under the direction of Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home.
