Lela Josephine Sago, 88, of Festus died April 20, 2022, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Sago co-owned and operated Twin City Radiator and Twin City Honda. She loved antiquing and spending time with her family and friends, especially her husband. Born Aug. 26, 1933, in Lilbourn, she was the daughter of the late Ethel (Gosnell) and John Shy.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years: Darrell Sago.
She is survived by a daughter: Toni Sago of Festus; three sons: Gene (Karen) Sago of Festus, Lance (Heather Womack) Sago of Bloomsdale and Will (Margaret) Sago of Festus; a sister-in-law: Gay (the late Jim) Dunham of Festus; a cousin: Joy Ellison of St. Louis; four grandchildren: Jason Lednick, Casey Fluegel, Brouk Sago and Hannah (Matt) Magelitz; and numerous family members.
She was preceded in death by three brothers: Jim Shy, Bob Shy and Rich Shy.
Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, immediately followed by funeral services. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Homes.
