Leatha Anita (Province) Peyton, 97, of Potosi died June 6, 2021. Mrs. Peyton was a lifelong member of the Irondale Church of the Nazarene and always kept her faith. She loved working around her home and kept a well-manicured flower garden that was admired by all. Born April 22, 1924, in Irondale, she was the daughter of the late Walter M. and Annie (Anderson) Province. She was preceded in death by her husband: John C. Peyton, whom she married on Aug. 9, 1941.
She is survived by two sons: Jim (Kathleen) Peyton of High Ridge and Steve (Nancy) Peyton of Mineral Point; three sisters: LeEtta D’Anthony of St. Louis, Gail Lawson of Potosi and Donna (Gerald) Barron of Belgrade; two brothers: Walter “Sonny” (Shirley) Province and Jerry (Bonnie) Province, both of Irondale; three grandchildren: Sherri (Todd) Winn, Jerry (Kathy) Peyton and Paul (Amanda) Peyton; four great-grandchildren: Keifer Winn, Dakota Winn, Justin Peyton and Samantha Peyton; six great-great-grandchildren, including her little helper, “J.J.” Missey; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Gladys Cone and Erma Province.
A funeral service was held June 11 at Moore Funeral Home in Potosi, officiated by Pastor Bob Pyatt. Burial was in the Big River Cemetery in Irondale. Arrangements were under the direction of Moore Funeral Home.
