Gottman, Kathryn

Kathryn A. “Kathy” (Haynes) Gottman, 67, of Hannibal died April 17, 2022, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Mrs. Gottman was a Christian and a homemaker and talented cook. She enjoyed playing cards, board games, watching crime shows, reading the Bible, listening to gospel music and spending time with family and friends. Born April 29, 1954, in Hannibal, she was the daughter of the late Paul Kurtz and Roberta Usherwood Peacock. She was preceded in death by her husband: Charles “Poncho” Haynes, whom she married  March 20, 1971, and who died in 1999.

She is survived by three children: Charles (Kandace) Haynes of De Soto and Stacy Haynes and Sabrina (Randy) Haynes, both of Beardstown, Ill.; a brother: Paul Kurtz of Barry, Ill.; two sisters: Helen Brinkley and Cindy Ledbetter, both of Hannibal; a special granddaughter she helped raise: R’eanna (Chad) Guadarrama; and many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by two sisters: Diannia Brinkley and Velma Waters; two brothers: Steve Kurtz and James Kurtz; and a daughter: Sheri (Haynes) Lopez.

Visitation is scheduled from 1 p.m. until a funeral service at 2 p.m. Friday, April 22, at James O’Donnell Funeral Home, 302 S. Fifth St., in Hannibal. Mrs. Gottman chose to be cremated. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
