Julie Ann Weaver, 61, formerly of De Soto

Julie Ann Weaver, 61, of Henderson, Nev., formerly of De Soto, died Feb. 3, 2023, in Henderson, Nev. Ms. Weaver, a 1979 graduate of De Soto High School. was a retired teacher and a member of the Christian faith. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Harris Stowe State University and master’s degrees in education and secondary counseling from the University of Missouri in St. Louis. Born April 1, 1961, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Marcella (Vaughn) Weaver and Waverly Weaver Jr. 

She is survived by three children: Tajuana (William) Cherry of Oceanside, Calif., and James Cherry and Adrienne Cadmey, both of Henderson, Nev.; four siblings: Clarence Mason of Florida, Phillip (Peggy) Weaver of Columbia, S.C., Mark (Sharon) Weaver of De Soto and Kevin (Susan) Weaver of Arnold; one grandchild: Lamont Cherry of Henderson, Nev.; a maternal uncle: Samuel Vaughn of Pittsburgh, Calif.; her paternal aunts and uncle: Mozella (Jessie) Smith of St. Louis, Raymond (Willie Mae) Weaver of St. Louis and Della Weaver of Chicago; as well as a host of cousins.

Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at the funeral home, officiated by Bishop Ronald Luellen. Burial will be in De Soto, followed immediately with a gathering at the De Soto Community Center, 400 Boyd St. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
