John Roy Lee Sr., 83, of Arnold died Dec. 14, 2021, at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis County. Mr. Lee was an ordained Southern Baptist minister, and served as minister of music to three congregations over several decades: Grandview Baptist Church in Florissant, First Baptist Church of Festus/Crystal City and First Baptist Church of Hillsboro. He was known for his kindness, gentle manne, and positive outlook. He was born April 3, 1938, in Lesterville, the son of the late Rayma Reva (Davis) and Marvin Leroy Lee.
He is survived by his wife: Mary “Delilah” (Aday) Milam-Lee of Arnold; a son: John Roy (Laura) Lee Jr. of Weldon Spring; four daughters: Kathy (Paul) Poss of Herculaneum, Sherri (Alfredo) Hernandez of Arvada, Colo., Suzanne (Ali) Al-Zubeidy of Cedar Hill and Shelly (Chris) Nall of Columbus, Ohio; a sister: Betty (David) Willard of St. Peters; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two stepsons: Mike (Loretta) Milam of Witte Springs, Ark., and Daryl (Marlene) Milam of Perryville; a stepdaughter: Wreneta (Rodney) Johnson of Arnold; 10 step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 57 years: Rubye “Marie” (Crews) Lee; a sister: Barbara Lee; and a stepson: Randal Milam.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until a funeral service at noon Monday, Dec. 20, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus officiated by Pastor Jeff Lunn.
