James M. Wilson, 95, of Troy died Nov. 25, 2019, in Troy. After high school, Mr. Wilson enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served from 1941-1944 during World War II. He was a lifelong learner and enjoyed staying busy. He was skilled at many things and was mechanically inclined.
Born Oct. 31, 1924, in Fredericktown, he was the son of the late Edward and Elizabeth Wilson.
He is survived by his wife: Marie (Emert) Wilson of Troy, and was preceded in death by his first wife: Dorothy Wilson.
He is survived by four children: James David “J.D.” (Kay) Wilson of Memphis, Tenn., Mark E. (Bev) Wilson of De Soto, Larry T. Wilson of Festus and John F. (Karen) Wilson of Fenton; a sister: Mary (the late Ed) Sharp of Troy; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Linda (Wilson) Rosenzweig; a stepson: Edward Bridges; and a step-grandson: Geoff Bridges.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the funeral services at noon Saturday, Jan. 11, at the De Soto Christian Church, 4151 Fountain City Road, officiated by the Rev. Gene Moses. Burial will follow, with full military honors, in Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the Betty Heffron/Dorothy Wilson Scholarship Fund, 14219 Easy Street, De Soto, 63020. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
