James L. Dement, 92, of Festus died Dec. 13, 2022, at his home. Mr. Dement was a machine designer. Born Oct. 12, 1930, in Centerville, he was the son of the late Sally (McMurray) and Arther Elmer Dement. He was preceded in death by his wife: Pauline Ruth Dement.
He is survived by three children; Vicki (Charles) Hartman of Cadet, Connie (the late Raymond) Hoeflinger of Oakville and Christine (Gary) Breckinridge of Festus; a brother: Darrell (Gloria) Dement; seven grandchildren: Timothy, Michael (Jessica), Tara (Matt). Trae, Jamie (Mike), Ashley (Jon) and Emily (Jason); and 16 great-grandchildren: Neal, Sela, Addy, Grace, Cecelia, Thomas, Paddy, Sam, Miles, Oliver, Charlie, Kate, Brody, Kyler, Jude and Claire. He was preceded in death by a grandson: Chad; a sister: Alma (John) McKittrick; and four brothers: Eugene (the late Mae) Dement, Ralph (the late Mary) Dement, Carl (Shirley survives) Dement and Bob (Mary Rose survives) Dement.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until a funeral service at noon Wednesday, Dec. 21, at Kutis Funeral Home, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, in south St. Louis County. Burial is in the Shepherd Hills Cemetery in Barnhart. Memorials may be made to the Mercy Jefferson Hospice, 151 Industrial Dr., Festus, 63028. Arrangements are under the direction of Kutis Funeral Home.
