Light, Jake

Jake Ervin Light Sr., 93, of Festus died Sept. 12, 2019, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Mr. Light was a retired machinist with Carter Carburetor in St. Louis and was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. Born Feb. 25, 1926, in Munger, he was the son of the late Effie (Mund) and Jake Edward Light. He was preceded in death by his wife: Pauline (Harbison) Light.

He is survived by two sons: Jake E. (Phyllis) Light Jr. of Festus and Jim (Jan) Light of Barnhart; four grandchildren: Stacey McCrary, Jimmy Light, Teri (Mark) Clark and Tiffany Light; and five great-grandchildren: Sophia, Avery, and Connor McCrary and Logan and Jacob Clark.

He was preceded in death by two sisters: Helen (the late Charles) Farris and Hester (the late Golden) Lambert; and three brothers: Henry Light, Harel (the late Pauline) Light and Elmer (the late Opal) Light.

A funeral service was held Sept. 17 at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus, officiated by the Rev. David Harbison. Burial with full military honors was in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks.  Memorials may be made to the Siteman Cancer Centers of St. Louis.  

Arrangements were under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
