George W. Sowards Jr., 82, of Eureka died March 20, 2020.
He is survived by his wife: Sally M. (Knipe) Sowards; three children: Lana (Dave) Wassler of Oakville, Michael Sowards of Eureka and Clinton (Karrie) Sowards of Eureka; 11 grandchildren: Paul, Christopher, Samantha, Hailey, Peyton, Danielle, Taylor, Gabriel, Jon, Eli and Sada; six great-grandchildren: Bentley, Kelise, Camden, Grant, Luke and Sawyer; two stepchildren: Barbie (D.J.) Kruse and Kerry Creamer; four siblings: Susan (Ken) Woods, Kay Sowards, James "Boo" Sowards and Jeanne (Cathy) Sowards; and numerous family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by three siblings: Robert Atherton, John Sowards and Donald Sowards.
Services with full military honors will be held later at the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Arrangements are under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home.
