Gary W. O’Brien, 63, of De Soto died May 29, 2017, at his home. Mr. O’Brien was an equipment operator for the Missouri Department of Transportation and the owner of Standard Oil on Main Street in De Soto. He was also a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting, traveling, reading and helping farmers. Born Nov. 18, 1953, in Cedar Hill, he was the son of William O’Brien of De Soto and the late Marie (Heiland) O’Brien.
In addition to his father, he is survived by a niece: Michelle (Karl) Walker of De Soto; a nephew: John (Karen) Hayes of De Soto; and a sister: Terry Hayes of De Soto.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, June 2, at Mahn Funeral Home, 900 N. Main, in De Soto. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 3, at the funeral home, officiated by Father Anderson. Burial is in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Cedar Hill. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
