Edith “Maxine” Taylor, 94, of Pevely died Oct. 7, 2019, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Community Bible Church in Pevely. She will be remembered as kind and loving. Born Sept. 21, 1925, in Qulin, she was the daughter of the late Daphne (Franklin) and Artie Baker.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Bill G. Taylor.
She is survived by five sons: Larry (Danice) Swain of Pevely, Darryl (Donna) Taylor of Arnold, David Taylor of Arnold, Keith (Theresa) Taylor of Festus and Keven Taylor of Barnhart; a sister: Helen Geraldine (the late Robert) Watson of Potosi; 10 grandchildren: Jason Dickens of New Field, N.Y., Tom Swain of Pevely, Emily (Donnie) Vaughn of Pevely, Brian Swain of Pevely, Michael (Robyn) Taylor of Imperial, Crystal (Chris) Brakhage of Festus, Lindsay Taylor of St. Louis, Nick Taylor of Arnold, Joshua Taylor of Festus and Zachary (Heather) Taylor of Dallas, Texas; a son-in-law: Alvin Dickens of Pevely; a sister-in-law: Christine Baker of Malden; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a daughter: Carol Dickens; an infant son: Douane Taylor; two sisters: Elma “Myrl” Morehead and Theo Lesilene Baker; two brothers: Ralph Vernon Baker and Clinton Lyle Baker; and a daughter-in-law: Carol “Kay” Swain.
Funeral services were held Oct. 11 at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus, officiated by the Rev. Dennis Rudanovich. Burial was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Pevely. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
