Earline Johnston-Long, 89, of De Soto died Feb. 26, 2014, at her home. Mrs. Johnston-Long worked in the Circuit Clerk’s office at the Jefferson County Courthouse and was a court reporter. She started Team Realty and worked as a real estate agent until her retirement. She was a member of the De Soto Community Church of God. Born July 18, 1924, in De Soto, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Lola Tempa (Hubbard) Berry.
She is survived by her husband of 24 years, David Long of De Soto; three children: children: William “BJ” (Gina) Johnston of Osage Beach, Barry (Susan) Johnston of Wildwood and David Long of Aurora; three siblings: Richard (Barbara) Berry of De Soto, Walter Glenwood (Carolyn) Berry of De Soto and William (Rita) Berry of Paragould, Ark.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Timon Johnston; and two sisters: Bertha Hoyt and Alta (the late Derrick) Filkins.
Funeral services were held March 1 at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto, officiated Pastor Steven Leach, the Rev. Gene Moses and the Rev. Bob Siebels. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the De Soto Community Church of God, 300 W. Mineral St., De Soto, 63020. Arrangements were under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
