Dorothy Mae Prater, 80, of De Soto died Jan. 5, 2022, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Prater was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Born May 9, 1941, in Bragg City, she was the daughter of the late Myrtle (Hartwell) and Fred J. Prater.
She is survived by four children: Stephen (Lynnette) Reando of Imperial, Jonny (Teresa) Reando of Festus, Cheryl (James) Haynes of De Soto and Kimberly (Stephen) Mueller of Festus; a sister: Wanda Berry of Fredericktown; two brothers: John Prater of Fouke, Ark., and Jimmy Prater of Grubville; nine grandchildren: Stacie, Kristen, Steven and Jon Paul Reando, Jessica (Justin) Chatagnier, Eric (Elizabeth) Thompson, Angie (Tye) White, James Haynes Jr. and Stephen Mueller II; and six great-grandchildren: Gunner, Lincoln, Caydance, Avery, Reagan and Eli.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Opal Puttin and Joy Venable; five brothers: Harvey Prater, Robert Prater, Paul Prater, Freddie Prater and Billy Prater; and two grandchildren: Jamie Sue Haynes and Justin Alexander Reando.
Private services will be officiated by Colleen Luntzer. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the CHADS Coalition for Mental Health, 4121 Union Road, Suite 224, St. Louis MO 63129. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, De Soto.
