Harter, Dorothy

Dorothy LeBoube Harter, 94, of Herculaneum died April 12, 2020, at Crystal Oaks Assisted Living in Festus. Mrs. Harter worked as a manager for Montgomery Ward in Festus; a teller at Commerce Bank in Festus; a clerk at Gasen’s and Dorsey Drug Stores; and was a beauty shop owner as a young woman in Crystal City. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Crystal City and volunteered for more than two decades with the  Jefferson Memorial Hospital “Pink Ladies” Auxiliary Service. Born Jan. 4, 1926, in Crystal City, she was the daughter of the late Sylvia (Martin) and Stefano “Sam” Siracusa. She was preceded in death by two husbands: Joseph Paul LeBoube and Sylvester Gene “Red” Harter.

She is survived by a son: John (Rebecca) LeBoube of Herculaneum; a daughter: Denise (Dave) Weiss of Herculaneum; a stepdaughter: Diana Harter of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren: Tamico (Michael) Jones, Zachary (Christine) Weiss, Joseph (Lindsey) LeBoube and John (Jess) LeBoube II; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister: Lillie (the late Walter) Rhineberger; and three brothers: Ernest “Polly” (the late Normalee) Siracusa, Leo (the late Katherine) Siracusa and Stephen (the late Augusta) Siracusa.

Graveside services were April 18 at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to Backstoppers or Variety the Children's Charity of St Louis. Arrangements were under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
