Donald E. Wuest, 87, of Herculaneum died Sept. 5, 2018, at St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County. Mr. Wuest worked for Western Publishing Co. from 1950-1974 and later for Beaumont Graphics until 1991. He was a member of Litho Union Local 6505M since 1950. He also was a member of the St. Louis Litho Club in the early 1960s. He was also a Korean War veteran and served from 1952-1954 in the 5th Army 6th Armored Division. He was a sign painter and training aid builder at Fort Leonard Wood. He enjoyed watercolor painting, playing golf with his buddies, playing bingo and knock rummy with his friends at Autumn Ridge Senior Living in Herculaneum, and watching his great grandsons play football.
Born Jan. 9, 1931, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Frank and Jenny (Alexander) Wuest. He was preceded in death by his wife: Audrey L. (Matlock) Wuest.
He is survived by one son: Ron (Jeanne) Wuest of St. Peters; one daughter: Connie (Jeff) Alexander of Pevely; four grandchildren: Angie (Rowdy) Smith, Michael (Jenny) Buckowitz, Erica Wuest and Emily Wuest; five great-grandchildren: Kyle and Luke Smith, Michael, Peyton and Ethan Buckowitz; and five step-grandchildren: Courtney, Andrew (Kayla) and Elijah Alexander and Drew and Cole Smith.
He also was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.
A memorial visitation will be from 5 p.m. until the funeral at 7 p.m. today, Sept. 13, at Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home, 9115 Commercial Blvd., in Pevely, officiated by Deacon Jerry Stoverink. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to Wildlife Rescue Center, 1128 New Ballwin Road, Ballwin, 63021. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
