Davis William Edwards Sr., 89, of De Soto died March 18, 2023, at his home. Mr. Edwards was a retired truck driver for Yellow Freight and a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of Teamsters Local 600 and was a 32nd-degree Mason. Born May 18, 1933, in Hendrickson, he was the son of the late Walter and Ida (Alexander) Edwards.
He is survived by his wife: Edna (Pendley) Edwards of De Soto, whom he married on July 11, 1954; three children: Cheryl (Sid) Helms of Fredericktown, Nancy (Randy) Syring of Phoenix, Ariz., and David (Angie) Edwards Jr. of De Soto; seven grandchildren: Jennifer Marshall, Christina Wagner, Brian Friedman, Sarah Olivas, Joshua Edwards, Jeremy Edwards, and Jacob Edwards; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by an infant grandchild.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 23, at the funeral home. Burial is in Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
