Packard, David

David Marshall Packard, 84, of De Soto died Jan. 29, 2022, at Baisch Skilled Nursing Facility in De Soto. Mr. Packard was a retired professor at John A. Logan College. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and an avid world traveler. Born May 3, 1937, in Worden, Ill., he was the son of the late Marlin and Grace Elizabeth (Moore) Packard.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years: Catherine Marie (Kandlbinder) Packard, whom he married on May 18, 1989, in Hickman, Ky.; three children: Margaret Diana (Paul) Annable, David Marshall (Beth) Packard II and Marci Desire (Joe) McClellan; a brother: Thomas Alan (Pat) Packard; a stepdaughter: Marinda Marie (Phillip Fox) Williams; a stepson: Robert Theron (Joni) Roland; his mother-in-law: Theola Kandlbinder; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren;  five sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; several nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother: Richard Packard; and his father-in-law: Arnold Kandlbinder.

Private visitation and memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion.
