David Joe Reece, 75, of Herculaneum died Aug. 24, 2022, at his home. Mr. Reece was a retired police sergeant with the Pevely Police Department. Born April 26, 1947, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Dorothy (Marsden) and Mason Ashley Reece.
He is survived by his wife: Rosemary (Baumann) Reece; a son: David (Karen Sutton) Reece of Kirkwood; a daughter: Tammie (Robert Ferguson) Kube of Hillsboro; five sisters: Darlene Kent of Pevely, Bev Cox of Festus, Shelley (Robert) Davis of Pevely, Dottie (Kirk) Neal of Festus and Cari (Roger) Griffin of Festus; seven grandchildren: Megan Talley, Stephanie Pauk, Chad Reece, Ryan Reece, Nicole Lyerla, Tucker Kube and Sydnie Kube; and a great-grandchild: Avery Talley. He was preceded in death by a brother: Marvin Reece; and two brothers-in-law: David Kent and Gary Cox.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, at the funeral home. Burial is in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Pevely. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
