David Arthur Benson Sr., 83, Bonne Terre

David Arthur Benson Sr., 83, of Bonne Terre died Jan. 11, 2023, in Bonne Terre. Mr. Benson graduated from Festus High School in 1957 and then served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a police officer in St. Louis, worked as a real estate agent and was a longtime salesman for Crystal Heating and Cooling. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America and was a Scout Master for multiple troops, and he achieved Eagle Scout and Eagle Scout Mentor. He loved hunting and fishing. Born April 6, 1939, in Festus, he was the son of the late Arthur J. and Alma L. (Tindall) Benson.

He is survived his wife: Linda (Ellis) Benson of Bonne Terre; a son: David A. (Regina “Muffie) Benson Jr. of Farmington; a daughter: Kelly L. (Benson) Crawford of Bonne Terre; four grandchildren: Victoria Nicole and Scotty Lynn Benson, both of Fairview Heights, Ill., Dereck A. Crawford of Bonne Terre and Kristin (T.C.) Jennings of Doe Run; three great-grandchildren: Riley David Benson, Ryane Willow Manion and Rhett Charles Jennings; and two longtime friends: Roger and Rosetta Hagan.

He was preceded in death by a grandson: John David Benson.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until a funeral service at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, at Robert D. Brown Funeral Home, 103 Fourth St., in Hillsboro. Burial will follow at in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert D.
