Clifford A. Byrd, 82, of De Soto died July 23, 2017, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Byrd was the owner of Byrd Upholstery and a member of St. Rose of Lima Church in De Soto. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family and his yellow Labrador Retriever, Lady. Born Aug. 10, 1934, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Lewis J. and Florence (Doyer) Byrd. He was preceded in death by his wife: Georgeann (McDuffey) Byrd.
He is survived by two sons: Clifford (Karen) Byrd Jr. of Washington, Mo., and Kevin (Karen) Byrd of De Soto; a daughter: Sandra (Gary) Crossno of De Soto; a sister: Betty Meyers of Cape Girardeau; eight grandchildren: Michael, Jenny, Tessa, Maddie, Neal, Rachael, Tracy and Sarah; and five great-grandchildren: Abby, Emily, Tanner, Lucas and Charlotte. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Leonard, Donald and Richard Byrd; a sister: Geraldine Kalbirer; two sisters-in-law: Barbara Byrd and Marlene Byrd; and two brothers-in-law: Joe Kalbirer and Jake Meyers.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Friday, July 28, at Mahn Funeral Home, 900 N. Main, in De Soto. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 29, at St. Rose of Lima Church in De Soto, officiated by Father Alex Anderson. Burial is in the Peaceful Ridge Cemetery in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
