Charles Henry “Charlie” Black, 75, of Herculaneum died June 7, 2017, at his home. Mr. Black was a retired machinist for Boeing in St. Louis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of First Assembly of God in Herculaneum. Born June 25, 1941, in Bismarck, he was the son of the late Beulah (Taylor) and George Black.

He is survived by his wife: Betty (Robinson) Black; four daughters: Pamela Sue (Mike) Brinegar of Festus, Catherine Ann (Johnny) Hargrove of Jessieville, Ark., Cheryl Louise (Terry) Lawson of Kansas City and Sara Elizabeth (Mark) Valle of St. Charles; a sister: Leota (the late Morris) Williams of Bismarck; a brother: Bill (the late Rose) Black of Desloge; eight grandchildren: Ashley (Ryan) Bement, Timmy (Mandi) Holloway, Michael Brinegar, Katie Brinegar, Tyler Hargrove, Logan Lawson, Isaac Valle and Luke Valle; and three great-grandchildren: Kaidan and Parker Bement and Dani Holloway.

Funeral services were held June 10 at Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home in Pevely, officiated by the Rev. Cody Alley. Burial was in the Herculaneum City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation; the Gideons; or the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements were under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
