Carma D. Howard, 82, of Festus died Oct. 7, 2019, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Howard worked for many years as a licensed practical nurse at the Jefferson Memorial Hospital, working in the operating room and in the obstetrics department and the nursery. She was a member of First Christian Church D.O.C., where she was a church elder emeritus and Sunday School teacher and was active in the Disciples Women. She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Dillon Chapter 16 in Blackwell. She enjoyed genealogy, sewing, camping, gardening, baking, cooking and traveling with the Good Sam RV Club, known as the “Bug Duckers.”
Born Nov. 7, 1936, in Festus, she was the daughter of the late Edra (Reed) Williams Shelton and Glenwood Williams.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Norval L. Howard.
She is survived by three sons: Terry L. Howard of Festus, Scott G. (Cindy) Howard of Blackwell and Brian W. Howard of Festus; a daughter: Glenda M. (George) Conway of Festus; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a grandson: Aaron Conway.
A memorial gathering will be from 4 p.m. until the memorial service at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at First Christian Church, 415 N. Mill St., in Festus, officiated by the Rev. Lari Grubbs. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City at a later date. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
