Betty Lou (McDonald) Kent, 73, of Festus died March 19, 2022, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Kent worked 14 years for Hamilton Shoe Factory before becoming self-employed with her own cleaning business for 30 years. She enjoyed fishing, dancing, camping, cooking and needle point. Born Nov. 20, 1948, in Herculaneum, she was the daughter of the late Woodrow and Lucille (Hays) McDonald.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years: Daniel Kent Sr; a son: Howard (Eldonna) Kent of Festus; a daughter: Sherry (Matt) Smith of Port Richey, Fla.; two brothers: Woody McDonald of Hobenwald, Tenn., and Robby (Kim) McDonald of Ste. Genevieve; four sisters: Alberta Kramer of Ste. Genevieve, Gerri Chapman of Festus, Joyce Walton of Ste. Genevieve and Sadie Linderer of Festus; a sister-in-law: Terrie McDonald of Port Richey, Fla.; five grandchildren: Daniel, Andrew, Shyanne, Dakota and Matthew Jr; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son: Daniel Kent Jr; two brothers: Raymond McDonald and Phillip McDonald; a sister: Sandy DeClue; a sister-in-law: Ruby McDonald; and two brothers-in-law: Ronald Chapman and Jim Linderer.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until a funeral service at 1 p.m. Friday, April 1, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Dr., in Festus. Burial is in the Presbyterian Cemetery in Festus. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel.
