Betty J. McGuckin, 82, of Arnold died Oct. 31, 2021. Mrs. McGuckin retired from General Motors after many years of faithful service. She also worked as a bartender at
J.R. Saloon and was a member of the Arnold Eagles. She was a three-time cancer survivor who was always the life of the party. Born Sept. 23, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Frances (Meyers) Schaeffer.
She is survived by three children: Monica (Fred) Meyer of Imperial, Todd (Cheryl) Gipfel of Cedar Hill and Shawn (Amy) McGuckin of Festus; six grandchildren: Jessica (Jeremy), Tricia (Damian), Montanna (Amber), Jennifer (Ray), Shane (Jessica) and Austin; and six great-grandchildren: Morgan, Kayla, Austin, Anya, Zane and Bentley.
She was preceded in death by a sister: Barbara (Bill survives) Lawrence; and one great- grandchild: Mayha.
Memorial visitation is from 10 a.m. until a memorial service at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19, at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Road in south St. Louis County. Burial is in the Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Open Door Animal Sanctuary, 6065 Duda Road, P.O. Box 870, House Springs, 63051. Arrangements are under the direction of Hoffmeister South County Chapel.
