Arthur R. King, 85, of Hillsboro, formerly of Berryman, died Aug. 10, 2015. Mr. King was a member of the Carpenter’s Union 2119 and moved houses for several years. He cut wood and worked on the farm in his spare time. He loved gardening, hunting and fishing. Born March 21, 1930, in Berryman, he was the son of the late Ruben Franklin King and Mable Lola Bridgman King.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years: Bernieth Elsie (Martin) King of Hillsboro; four children: Dale (Dawn) King of Hillsboro, Elsie (Pete) Hammond of De Soto, Judy (Rick) Brown of Hillsboro and Nancy (Kevin) Skaggs of De Soto; one brother: Jerry (Geraldine) King of Berryman; three sisters: Rachel Adams of Steelville, Lottie (Lester) Vance of Steelville and Mary (Robert) Hutson of Steelville; four sisters-in-law: Margie King of Cuba, Lucille Harmon of Steelville, Martha Martin of Steelville and Mary Martin of Cherryville; eight grandchildren: Dawn Selsor, Zeb and Koty Hammond, Ricky Brown, Jared and Jordan King and Brandon and Shannon Skaggs; three great-grandchildren: Makayla Brown, Kevin Sanders and Lo Hammond; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Delmar King and Walter King; one grandchild: Missi Hicks; four brothers-in-law: Edmond Adams, Clifton Harmon, Dwight Martin and Kenneth Martin; and one sister-in-law: Ollie (Garrett) Halbert.
Funeral services will be private. Memorials may be made to Berryman Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville.
