Govero, Arley

Arley Lawrence Govero, 90, of Festus died Dec. 22, 2021, at his home. Mr. Govero was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Air Force, serving during the Korean War. He enjoyed traveling and boating and was a member of the Plattin Rock Boat Club.  He was very involved in his community and enjoyed singing in the church choir at Our Lady Church. Born Jan. 24, 1931, he was the son of the late Louise Katherine (Berkbigler) and Raymond Lawrence Govero. He was  preceded in death by his wife: Mary (Horn) Govero; his daughter Leslie Rose Govero; his brother Robert (the late Betty) Govero; his sister Delores (the late Charles) Earls.

He is survived by two sons: Gregory (Charlotte) Govero of Fenton and John (Kathy) Govero of Festus; two daughters: Laura (Mark) Schmidt of St. Louis and Lee Anne Daming of St. Charles; two brothers: Jerry (Betty) Govero and Danny Govero, both of Festus; a sister: Gloria (William) Robertson of Colorado; 11 grandchildren: Raymond Govero, Erica (Dennis) Siebert, Leslie (Cody) Bahr, Jennifer Govero, Nick Govero, Mary (Darin) Henley, Eric Schmidt, Amy (John) Baier, Jason (Tara) Daming, Brian (Julia) Daming and Mark Daming;and five great-grandchildren: Charley Bahr, Colton Bahr, Connor Siebert, Blake Siebert and Gwendolyn Daming. He was preceded in death by a daughter: Leslie Rose Govero; a brother: Robert (the late Betty) Govero; and a sister: Delores (the late Charles) Earls.

Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. until a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at Our Lady Catholic Church in Festus, officiated by Father Gregory Klump. Burial is in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the Our Lady Church Choir. Arrangements are under the direction of  Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
