The Wildwood Planning and Zoning Commission will host a public hearing on the potential development and requirements for data centers at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 20 at Wildwood City Hall, 16860 Main St.
City Administrator Thomas Lee said the city has not received any land use proposals for the construction of data centers. Lee said the hearing is part of a proactive effort to identify where developments could be built in Wildwood along with requirements for any future development.
Lee said the hearing was encouraged by the citizen volunteer group assisting the city with its master plan. He said the data center hearing is similar to how the city also addressed topics such as the legalization of marijuana.
Other proposed data center developments in St. Louis and St. Charles County have attracted significant controversy in recent months.
The Wildwood Economic Development Committee will also review the topic in a future meeting.
