One of the more endearing holiday events is “The Nutcracker,” and this year the classic will be performed at 2 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 8) at Rickman Auditorium, 747 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold.

Tickets for floor and balcony seating cost $25 and $20, respectively. There is a $5 discount per seat for the purchase of 10 tickets or more.

The Belleville Ballet Theatre will perform "The Nutcracker," accompanied by the Belleville Philharmonic Orchestra.

“The Nutcracker” tells the story of young girl who dreams of the Nutcracker Prince and a fierce battle against the Mouse King. Few characters in ballet are more renowned than the Sugar Plum Fairy, as is her dance and the attendant score.

The presentation is sponsored by the Arnold Tourism Commission, Fireworks City and Humana and benefits the Arnold Food Pantry, which recently expanded its service area to include northern Jefferson County and all eligible veterans in Jefferson County.

The event is the single most significant fundraiser for the pantry, which relies on private donations and fundraisers for funding.

Tickets for the ballet may be purchased online at brownpapertickets.com or at the pantry’s thrift store, 2024 Key West Drive in Arnold. For more information, call 636-287-6565.
