No, the turkey's not even in the oven, but some people -- of all ages -- can't wait for Christmas.
It's no secret why Kimmswick's Christmas open house and parade has found a following, even though it's held each year the weekend before Turkey Day.
This year, it will be held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 18).
The town will be decked out in holiday attire for the season. Santa will host a tree lighting ceremony, and there will be strolling carolers and entertainment throughout the town. Shops will be serving refreshments and will have extended hours, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Restaurants also will have extended hours.
A parade will begin at 1 p.m. and will feature Santa’s arrival, which will be led by the Windsor High School band. The Gateway Men’s Chorus will ride the trolley and lead visitors in Christmas carols.
Children’s entertainer Babaloo will perform from noon to 1 p.m.
Free horse-drawn trolley rides will be available from 2-8 p.m., provided by the Kimmswick merchants. Santa will be at the Kimmswick Visitors Center, 314 Market St., to visit with children.
Santa will light the Christmas tree at 4:45 p.m. at the Visitors Center.
Throughout the day, the Rivertown Sound Quartet will stroll around the town. The historic Burgess-How House and the Kimmswick Historical Museum will be open.
